The NE Edge Elite Team coaches have been announced for the 2018-2019 season:
07 Elite: Jason Dango
Jason was a four year starting varsity goaltender for the Wilmington (MA) High School Wildcats. During his time there he broke several of the school's records, including posting nine shutouts in a single season. He was a two time Team MVP. He made the MVC and CAL All Star team 3 consecutive years. He also was named Player of The Year for The Cape Ann League 1996-1997. He was a Lowell Sun All Star 3 years, including earning All League Team Division 2 Honors.
He began Coaching for Wilmington High immediately after graduating in 1997. He Assisted there for 16 years. His last two years Coaching at Wilmington High School, the team won the MIAA Division 2 State Title at TD Garden. Jason is now thrilled to be passing his knowledge and love for the game of hockey to the youth players at the New England Edge.
06 Elite: Steve Rheaume
Steve has over 20 years of hockey experience including: coaching junior level teams in Canada; a Level 5 Coaching certificate for Canada; a Level 4 Coaching Certificate for the USA; a high level of playing experience and many connections who are willing to come and train with your champions. Steve has been the Owner of the NE Edge since 2016 and has brought positive and successful management to the organization.
05 Elite: Jim Abbott
Jim Abbott played in the Toronto (TMJHL) and American (NAHL) leagues where he was an all-star and team leader in goals. He played for UNH and won back to back Hockey East championships along with two trips to the Frozen Four. Jim was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL) and played professionally for the Pensacola Ice Pilots, Toledo Storm, Florida Everblades and Idaho Steelheads. Jim most recently coached in the Czech Republic and will coach in the Montreal Meltdown Hockey Tournament in June. Jim has also been a coach for Reading Youth Hockey from 2011-2017.
04 Elite: Doug Burns
Doug Burns played for the Salem (MA) Ice Dogs, Junior B Division, from 2006 to 2007. He then played with the Halifax Wolverines, a Tier 2 Junior A Division team in Canada from 2007 to 2008. In 2008 he moved to Truro, Canada and played for Bearcats, (Junior A, Tier 2) until 2010. In September 2010 he enrolled at the State University of New York at Canton and played for their team.
Doug has been a coach for the Edge for 3 years, coaching at all levels from town to elite, and was skills director for two years. Doug was promoted to Coaching Director at the beginning of the 2017-2018 season.
