Paige Anger Provides Late-Game Heroics

CONCORD, Mass. – White knuckles was the best way to describe last weekend’s New England Edge Girls U12 hockey game.

With 18-seconds left in the game Paige Anger provided late-game heroics with a goal to break open a scoreless tie to give the Edge a heart-wrenching 1-0 victory over Assabet Valley in NEGHL hockey action. The win improves the Edge to 1-1-0 on the season.

In goal, Sophia Hausberger was stellar stopping all 24 shots to earn her first shutout of the season. Her best save came in the second period where she stopped a breakaway attempt making a blocker save.

Defensively the trio of Meredith Partridge, Jill Scanlon and Paige Anger were immense in helping with the shutout.

Upfront Taylor Anger, Victoria Cornaro, Kenzley Goode, Reilly Morris and Sophia Panagakis provided constant pressure, especially in the third period where they had multiple scoring chances.

The Edge next plays Saturday against Hudson Cyclones at 4:40 p.m. at Conway Arena in a NEGHL league game.
